Yesterday, Hong Kong has a Confirmed case of H1N1. So have to start looking for the face mask that i bought last time and to check the expiry date. I hope it is still good.I think we will need to fill up forms again when we visit customers, like in 1993,tell them where have you been in last few weeks, whether you trave out and if you have Fever. Maybe have to bring your personal thermometer when go to work. I hope we are ready & Singapore is well prepared

Dialect in singapore

i do not see any problem in learning dialect, you can just pick it up, where as learning English & Mandarin will put pressure on young people because there are exam to pass. Mandarin is important, but i do not think you need to give up dialect just because you need to learn Mandarin. if you visit the wet market, you can see many older generation , man & woman, speaks Hokkien, Teochew, Cantonese and some simple English, Mandarin, Malay etc, many of them cannot read! but no problem in communicating in dialect etc. our Young people should do much better, right?

finally got hold of a 10.10 inch netbook for surfing the net. this netbook is loaded with Linpus Linux Lite and Window XP. A few seconds boot will get you into Linux Lite without loading Window XP. with Linux Lite, you can connect & surf the net, talk to someone with skype, cool.
you can also exit Linpus linux lite & get into Window XP.

18 years old trade shares , singapore

I do not understand why they are promoting that 18 years old can now trade in share. Most 18 years old will be doing national service or still studying. Have we set our priority right ?
After finishing study, most likely you still do not have a cents in pocket, maybe you already in debt , as you have to start paying back your parent or the banks for the study loans. where do you get the money to play shares?, after working few years to clear you study loans, you need to save up some cash for the rainny days, then you think of getting some insurance ,think of getting married, think of getting your HBD flats, think of bring up you child. if you can managed all this and still have cash to spare, go investing on what ever you like, but I am sure you will be

jobs lost

some of my friends working in Flextronics lost their job this week end.
so sad. other freinds of mine in aanother facotry, only work 3 days a weeks, and this will go on for next one two months.
did not ask them whether they still get paid or cut their annual leave, don't think
their are in the mood to tell me.

recession hit us

at a coffee shop near my place, the western food stall and the chinese Porridge stall is
closing down. I think there are there less than a year only. another money lossing venture.
I think the rent must be too high for them to operate.

My 2009 Review

2009 is going to be a very bad year, many people will loose their Job, many will face pay cut.
business & shop owners will see that sales drop , maybe by as much as 30 to 50 % . i do not think we need to wait till quarter 2 to see this happening.
I fail to understand why some people still can plan for a holiday abroad during this difficult time.
we are all in the same boat, everyone will be hit , one way or another.

Since we get free vidoe on demand on Singtel 's Mio, we got thru nine movies in Jan.
usually we watch it when we are having our dinner

Saturday

Saturday is always a busy day for me. need to do 30 min of Wii tennis or go for 50 min's walk,
need to do 20% water change to keep my Discus Happy , need to pay all the bills by cheque by post, need to go thru my file folder to see what need to be done etc.

Shorter work week is here in Singapore, got a call
from a friend, the factory that she works will go on
3 working day a week!

and "11 Days " was repeated 6 times in the first 3 pages
of the paper.
I think many people want to know how long, how many days
they got the answer.

Reported in the papers that university student get " retrench " lettes before
she even stard work, this is an indication that Job market are bad.
How many are coming out to the job market this year ?

How many years will it take to recover these billions?
look like any investment is of high risk, no such thing as
low risk, MSCI 44 % compare to 31 % , so ? feel better or what ?

back, we found a big Wooden White Elephant near one MRT station too !

If you have a TV , you pay $110.00 a year as License fee, whether you watch
those channel or not. We watch mostly Cable TV programmes,
there is no option to opt out. maybe they should package it for Cable so that
you sign up for it if you want.
best of cause is to reduce the fee or even set to zero.

Taiwan Political Talk Shows

I follow Taiwan's Political Talk Show, I think I know more of Taiwan's Politicians than our
Local Politicians. Thier talk show can go on 2 hours a day and seven days a week! no joke.

reduce the length of it by 40 percent !

I have given up the cable TV sports channel to save $24.00 per month , i do not follow football
like most people, I took up to watch the Formula One Race.
Recently signed up for Mio Home, get 3 Mps Broadband, free VOD, free fix phone line,
discount for three mobile lines & still there is a nett saving around $12.00 per month
